Recipe: TOMATO AND BASIL SAUCE
This tomato and basil sauce is the bases of a
lot of my cooking and can be batch made for multiple uses. I use it for pizzas,
pastas and more and it contains no added sugar.
There are two versions of the sauce. What you
might call the fresh version and the lazy version, when you just don't have the
time, or don't have the fresh ingredients to hand. Either way, it's really
simple!
FRESH SAUCE - You'll need a blender of some sort.
Ingredients
- 1 tin chopped tomatoes
- 2 or 3 large garlic cloves (depending on taste)
- 1 chilli
- big handful of fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Put the chopped tomatoes in a jug or blender.
- Roughly chop the garlic, basil and chilli (seeds included) and add to tomatoes.
- Blend until sauce is smooth.
LAZY SAUCE
Ingredients
- 1 carton of passata
- 1 heaped tbsp dried basil
- 1 tsp garlic granules
- 1 tsp chilli flakes
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a jug or bowl and stir.
